IKEA.. Sunday.. 1:00.. do I even need to write an entry!!..
so the daddy headed to a football game.. late.. and I racked my brain on what to do.. if I stayed in this house one more day.. I would start to grow my fingernails out and stop shaving my armpits.. and than it hit me.. IKEA! all the factors came flooding in.. a child during her nap time.. its 45 minutes away.. its a holiday Sunday weekend.. and IKEA’s annual sale is going on all week.. so it would be crazy.. but I packed a lunch.. water bottles.. some emergency chocolate and 2 bottles for olive.. and we went..
of course I got lost! I always do in Renton.. and I finally realized its because the directions said take 43rd street exit.. but after some construction.. it is actually 41st street construction.. ok.. small detour.. and of course.. my gas light was on.. (dont tell dust).. we make our way to the building.. carseverywhere! we were crawling in the parking lot because people were waiting and following people on foot to their cars.. and waiting.. 15 minutes later.. we had a spot.. (and yes.. it crossed my mind to just turn around).. there were no carts anywhere.. and for some reason I always forget that you cant get one until you are in the marketplace.. not the showroom where you walk around and buy wooden spoons for .99.. so I have our packed lunches.. and a 2 year old who doesn’t want to walk..suuuuuper.. I than spot a rogue cart in the couch section.. and i saunter over.. and look around wondering if anyone owns this one.. and sure enough. a woman walks over.. I asked if it was hers.. and seeing my “condition” insists I take it.. I literally thank her a million times.. and I think I even mentioned I was 5 months preggo. and my arms were jelly.. and she just made my day.. (which she had).. we than were able to shop.. and look.. and pick up things I didn’t need with two hands.. than..
my sugars crashed..
it was bad.. I started looking for the two lindt balls I had stashed in olives back pack.. inhaled them.. but they weren’t working.. its ok I think.. I am right by the restaurant.. correction.. the restaurant with 50 people in the lineup.. so I did what any mama did with a two year old and crashing sugars.. I grabbed a bag of Swedish chocolate cookies.. shredded the bad apart.. and inhaled 3 on the spot.. they were gross.. and it was wasted carbs.. but it did the trick.. and I was able to shop..
I went there to buy Olives big girl bed.. but I couldn’t lift the heavy box by myself :( so I settled on the other trinkets I bought.. I thankfully picked the “right” checkout aisle.. and proceeded.. I rewarded Olive.. and me.. with a mini frozen yogurt ice cream cone.. because she was honestly the best little angel on the face of the planet that day.. and I appreciated it..
we made it home alive.. Olive napped in the car.. and I enjoyed the silence.. and now.. I wait for her bedtime.. and I will order myself a pie.. and rent a movie.. ahh..
perfection!
