I survived pride 2011.. (with two children)..

June 26th, 2011

represent..
we are back.. and I am happy to say that it was way easier then I thought it would be.. with the estimated 200’000 people kicking around.. the packing up was a doozy.. especially for the what ifs.. but this year I knew that I would not be rocking a sweater vest.. circa 2009.. gulp.. we made it down late.. of course.. but we caught some of the parade and Dust was able to wait in the 30 person line up to get into 7-11.. and we found a nice shady spot to plunk our asses down with some of our friends!
Seattle wasn’t going to let them fly their flag this year.. and it ended up costing them 50 g’s to do it.. I mean really.. I understand paying the wage of the guy that has to take 30 minutes to raise it. but 50’000.. :0
we used our new sit and stand stroller for this event.. and it was perfect.. any doubt I had about buying this brand.. (well my parents bought it ;) was put to rest when we used it.. olive climbed in and out easily.. lots of storage.. and it had these great side pockets for the items you pull out a million times in one day.. aka phone and wallet..
the highlight of my day was definitely the pizza booth we parked our aces beside.. the same place that I drooled over before on a ladies night.. had brought in the same wood fire oven and was pumping out their pizzas.. and I am not ashamed to say I went back for seconds ;)
we just sat.. and relaxed.. and enjoyed some sunshine.. which was beyond foreign to me these days.. the cutest part was Olive dancing.. everywhere! she was that kid in the grass that you see at festivals.. just grooving.. a long way from my little girl who wouldn’t leave my side 5 months ago.. we bought her a shiny rainbow princess wand and she waved her freak flag!
Dust took her to the fountain.. and into the stage dancing area.. and she screamed when she had to leave!
"no daddy.. I dance"
I think she won over Dustin even more ;)
the low of our day was when we lost “beige baby” she has been olives best friend since her 1st birthday.. she helped us get her ready for baby sister.. she goes on all our walks with us.. and she will not go to sleep without her.. and when we stopped to change brixtons touche under a tree.. beige baby was left.. we never realized until we got home.. we even text our friends to go back and see if she was there.. and let me tell you.. I shed a tear over this.. I clearly have attachment issues.. I am still rockin my bear (his name is Willy) from when I was a wee lass.. and yes.. he is even on the bed.. and comes up for christmas’.. and just knowing that her sweet baby was gone.. and how much she meant to Olive broke my heart.. I raced to walmart when we got home.. and prayed the whole way there that there was another.. I know God has bigger issues to deal with.. but I prayed anyways..
and thank the Lord!! there was one.. and let me tell you.. after being thrown in the Mexican pool.. covered in nutri grain bar.. and vomit on.. this baby is a little too clean.. I just hope she doesn’t pick up on that detail :(
**I now know why parents race out to buy matching goldfish and hamsters.. I cant bear the thought of her face when she gets up from her nap if she realized it
that is the face of a husband who realized he now has two children and wasnt staying out until the wee hours of the night :( sorry babes.. but we are still in newborn survival mode :S
safe pride everyone!!
